Chore Pad – Digital Reward Chart
Some people may call me a bit harsh, but yes, I give my three year old chores to do. Not because I think that is what kids are for, I do it because she actually LIKES to help me do stuff around the house. I swear, she does! And I’ve found that if I have her help me, we have less tantrums during the day (and night.)
Yes, I said we. I’m human. I have tantrums too!
I downloaded a new app last night that I thought she would get a kick out of. It’s called Chore Pad and it was created by Nannek. Apparently, both the iPad and the iPhone version are in the running for 2010 Best App Ever Award in the Parenting category. After only one day, I can definitely see why.
About the app:
- You create accounts for each child
- You create all the chores to delegate
- Assign the number of stars each chore is worth
- Assign chores to children
- Add Rewards (ice cream, candy, game night, etc)
- Assign how many stars each reward is.
Since my three year old is, well, three, once I opened the app and showed her what she had to do that day to get stars, she started running around the house doing her chores. When she was done each one, she put the check in the correct spot (with my help) and got super excited. Seriously, I should post a video of it because that doesn’t even come close to describing how she truly was. Think…. squealing, high pitched, wahoo!
This is definitely a ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ rating for me. I love it, and the three year old approves!
There are four versions of this app available in the iTunes store:
- Chore Pad HD Lite (free)– iPad version, only allows one user and four chores.
- Chore Pad HD ($4.99)– iPad full version, unlimited amount of family members and chores.
- Chore Pad ($2.99)– iPhone version, unlimited amount of family members and chores.
- Chore Pad Lite (free)– iPhone version, only allows one user and four chores.
